Frequently asked questions

Working with a fashion stylist

  • I do not have my prices currently on my website as the solution for each client can vary. In the initial ‘discovery call,’ we discuss your needs, and we discuss the packages available. As a guide, my hourly rate is $150. I save my clients money, through ensuring that we only buy what they really need and what they love — no mistakes or spur of the moment decisions.

  • This is a question I get asked a lot! And it is one that is really hard to answer because everyone’s budget is so different. The most important thing to know is that I will work with YOUR budget — be that modest, generous or something in between. I only take you to stores that fit within your budget — I will not take you to retailers outside of your budget.

The best way to know if your budget and your session outcomes align is to simply tell me what you must spend, and we will let you know where we can shop to get you what you want.

  • The age of Monday Project clientele ranges significantly — thus far, they range from 13 to 81 years of age.

I work with a lot of people in client facing roles who need to feel confident in how they dress. I work with parents in their 40’s and 50’s who are juggling work, families and often changing bodies as they age. I work with all body shapes and budgets. I work with you to understand your goals, so I can help you achieve them.

The one thing my clients all have in common is frustration with their wardrobe and the desire to feel confident and have clarity in how they dress.

  • I travel all over metropolitan Melbourne and country areas of Victoria on request. If travel exceeds more than 30kms one-way, additional charges apply. Please contact me for a quote.

  • Absolutely. If Covid taught us nothing, it is that you can work anywhere. I can conduct all my services via Teams or Zoom. Let us discuss.

  • I always say: I can shop under water! Whether it be your local shopping centre, shopping strip or favourite store, I can shop with you there. I regularly meet clients in High Street Armadale, Burke Rd Camberwell, Melbourne CBD, Chadstone and any other local favourites.

  • A Style Consultation is an hourly service which takes place usually at my client’s house. I use it to get really clear on your style goals to ensure that whatever we do — wardrobe edit, shopping or both achieves these goals. Visit Personal Styling services to learn more.

  • The Wardrobe Edit is a thorough, in-depth look through your wardrobe which takes up to 3 hours in your home. This allows time to try on things from your wardrobe so that I can accurately advise you on what suits your shape. While focusing on the clothes you already have, I can also advise you on any gaps, suggest different ways to combine your existing pieces, organise your wardrobe space and give you suggestions on where to shop.

Like the Style Consultation, all the advice, style tips and body shape ‘rules’ are written up and provided to you in a personal Style Plan. The Wardrobe Edit is a very personal service which will sort out your wardrobe and leave you feeling confident about your body shape and style.

  • Booking a Wardrobe Edit prior to a Personal Shopping trip is not essential. The advantage however of the Wardrobe Edit is that it does allow me to assess what you already have, understand your personal style, and get to know you. This information helps me to plan your shopping trip effectively because I know exactly what shape you are and can determine your personal needs.

But if you feel that you don’t have enough in your wardrobe to warrant a full Wardrobe Edit (or really need to start from scratch!) or don’t have the budget to book both services, then we will determine your needs by asking you to respond to a set of questions. And do not forget, you can always just contact me to chat.

  • My role as Personal Stylist is to guide you in making decisions about your wardrobe. You make the final decision about what to get rid of, store away, donate, have altered, or keep. Often pieces that are not working can salvaged through alterations. As your stylist, I have a discerning eye and will certainly advise of options.

  • That is completely up to you. Some clients lay things out that they are particularly interested in addressing first and others just open their closet doors, and we start at the very beginning!

To maximise your wardrobe consultation time, prior to your consultation please go through your wardrobe and pull out all the items you especially have concerns or questions about. This is the pile of clothing that I will prioritise for review.

Next, pull all your shoes and accessories out of their boxes/cupboards and line them up in rows near your wardrobe.

Lastly, identify in advance two key outfits to show me at the start of your consultation:

    1. Your best/favourite outfit to wear if you were going out with friends.

    2. Your typical “everyday” outfit that you would wear to work or to the shops /running errands.

By implementing the above we I can then not only assess each piece you own but also match pieces up together to give some extra insight as to what works with what in your wardrobe from styles, colours and individual pieces.

  • Every client receives a style guide specific to them. This includes things like styling tips, photos of outfits we styled to remind you. If I am shopping with you, you receive a shopping guide before the day to show you the items and stores I suggest we shop at. This is an app you can store on your phone’s homescreen to remind you when you are getting dressed.

  • My career was in human resources. This taught me how to ask good questions to help me uncover my clients needs. If I am working with a client, I also understand what workplace expectations are and how to ensure your style aligns with your career and lifestyle goals.

I am an accredited stylist with the Australian Styling Institute and have a long list of clients who can tell you the impact I have had on their confidence in getting dressed and feeling confident and comfortable in their wardrobe.

  • The first step it to book a discovery call, so I can understand your needs. Once you’ve come that far in your decision to engage a stylist, I work as quickly as I can to book our initial consultation together.
